Building and Decorating Fireplace Mantels

To start off I know a few men who redid the fireplace area and mantel as a surprise for their wives. They scored points big time. I have an uncle who did a fireplace for his in-laws. His in-laws were out of town, when they arrived in their home they couldn't believe how nice their new fireplace mantel was. To top it off they were impressed to find out their son-in-law put it together.

For the Ladies, what would a mantel be? Without decorations. This time of year is perfect to make a change in your home and spruce up the mantel.

It is so great that you can change your decor anytime of year. And if you have an old mantel that can be changed to get a new look. What spice can be added to your home!

I think the wives score points too, when they can decorate their mantels. Most husbands are impressed too. Something that may see so simple, can really light up your mans eyes. Anyone can can impress a few people, surprising them with their decor capability!

Adding some lights and candles can really soften your atmosphere. Mirrors, Iron Art, Different Heights, Books, Pictures you name it, Be Creative. Decorating Mantels, is all about placement. Since the items aren't fixed you can try new looks all day long:)

This video clip, has some simple decorating for your mantel. I thought it was interesting that she decorated the mantel as if is were a swag. It seems this would be a good base to have to add your signature pieces. The mantel would be nice with some tall pieces or large votive's with candles. Maybe even some gold to tie in her wreath:)
